How do I participate in the Lagos Carnival 2012?

You may sign up with a Carnival Band with which you are familiar
OR
Please go to your nearest Local Government Council. You will then be able to choose from a list of Carnival Bands that are available in the area. Then kindly enter your details on the list of the Band you have chosen. You may also telephone the Carnival Band Captain (of your chosen Band) whose number will be available in order to find out the meeting details of the Band.

What routes will the Lagos Carnival 2012 go through and where will the Lagos Carnival 2012 take place?

During the Lagos Carnival 2012 the parades and floats will traverse Awolowo Road, Ikoyi and major streets on Lagos Island. These will all culminate at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) in a grand display.

What time does the Lagos Carnival 2012 take place?

The Lagos Carnival 2012 is a full day event!
The Carnival Band will commence procession from selected locations along the designated routes to TBS from 10:00 a.m.
The Grand Parade of the Lagos Carnival 2012 floats shall come to close by 6:00pm. and includes musical fireworks.

What is the deadline to enroll for participation in the Lagos Carnival 2012?

March 15th 2012.

What are the participation rules?

These will be distributed at the meetings of the Carnival Bands which you are encouraged to attend.

Is there an age range for participants in the Carnival Bands?

The age range for participants in the adult Carnival Bands is 18 and above. Young persons participating in the Junior Carnival will be enrolled through the various selected participating schools.

How much does it cost to enroll with a Carnival Band?

There is no charge for enrolment and participation.

How do I get costumes?

The costumes will be available through the Carnival Band that you have joined.

What do I do with the costumes after the end of the Lagos Carnival 2012?

For this premier edition the costumes are yours to take away after the parade except for the large back-packs and dress hoops.

How much do I need to pay for costumes?

For this edition, the costumes are FREE!

How much does it cost to register to take part in the Lagos Carnival Queen Beauty Pageant 2012?

The registration fee is N2500

How do I get to the TBS on carnival day?

In order to minimize traffic congestion commuters are encouraged to car pool and park at designated car parks on Lagos Island. Alternatively you may take advantage of the FREE LAGBUS buses which will depart from designated bus stops in Epe, Ikorodu, Badagry and within the wider metropolis.

What security arrangements are in place for the Lagos Carnival 2012?

Security concerns are paramount and there will be major deployment of security personnel both at the TBS as well as along the routes. In addition, as in the successful Eyo Festival, the usually perceived trouble makers will be gainfully engaged prior to and during the Carnival.

What kind of medical support is in place for the Lagos Carnival 2012?

Medical personnel will be on stand-by throughout the day and along the routes to assist if required.
